Have you heard about Atlanta’s re-branding campaign, which was unveiled last year? The tagline is “Every Day Is An Opening Day.” There’s a huge campaign, complete with a theme song for the city: “The ATL.”
(Speaking of Opening Day, the Braves had theirs on Monday of this week. On Monday, April 10, they have a home game against the Phillies.)
While looking for tips of things to see and do in the ATL, I checked the Gridskipper blog. It’s part of the Gawker Media group, which also does Wonkette, Defamer and Gizmodo. Click on “Atlanta“and peruse the results. I learned about Atlanta 2006 Urban Explorer’s Handbook, created by local free weekly Creative Loafing. It features Google Maps Hacks that let you pinpoint local restaurants, bars, art galleries, movie theaters, and more. Need a suggestion for Sunday Brunch? Maybe you like to goad a co-worker into karaoke?
Gridskipper also directed me to Alon’s Bakery & Market in Morningside and National Geographic Traveler‘s 48 Hours: Atlanta feature. I am told that there has been a great deal of development in Atlanta since I was last there, so I’ll be interested to see the results.
